General music is offered for Kindergarten through 6th grade. In this class, the students learn basic music and choral skills, explore Orff instruments, music theory practice, drama games, and handbells. Kindergarten experiences music class once a week, learning basic music skills. 1st – 4th grades have 30 minute music classes three times a week. 5th and 6th grade students have 40 minute classes four times a week. They choose between general music, strings and band.
Band is offered for 5th and 6th grades. The class meets four times a week for 40 minute periods.
Strings is offered for 4th, 5th and 6th grade students. 4th grade Strings students meet twice each week before school. 5th and 6th grade Strings students meet four times a week for 40 minute class periods during the school.
Honor Music Programs
Grace Community Christian School offers significant, valuable, and diverse educational resources for our students. We seek to better prepare them for the increasingly complex technology-based world in which we live. GCCS provides specific, AZ state standards-based computer instruction and Internet access for educational purposes. We are blessed to have a computer lab with 30 PCs, in a setting which allows for both group instruction and individualized assistance.
In grades K-8, appropriate to the students’ grade level, we provide instruction in computer basics, the practical uses of word processing, spreadsheet software, desktop publishing, Power Point presentations, graphic design and editing, and effective use of online resources. Students in grades 3-8 also participate in training and practice in touch-typing.
Many of the computer assignments are integrated with, and enhance the units of study in the students’ regular classes. As appropriate, students are also instructed in the importance of discernment and integrity in regards to using the school computer network and online resources.
Grace Community Christian School is part of a community that includes a large population of people whose heart language is Spanish. Because we are compelled by God to both love the alien living among us and to make disciples of all nations (Deut. 10:19; Matt. 28:19), it is prudent for our students to have an understanding of the Spanish language and cultures, that ultimately the wonders of God may be proclaimed in Spanish, that speakers of Spanish may know that “[Jesus] purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.” (Rev. 5:9)
A supervised playground is available for students in grades K-8. Before school care is available from 7:00-8:15 a.m. at the rate of $4.00 per day. After school care is available from 3:15-6:00 p.m. at the rate of $8.00 per day; children picked up by 4:30 p.m. pay a rate of $5.00 per day. Arrangements must be made in the school office for this service. No childcare will be provided on days when school is dismissed at noon or on school holidays.
Any student remaining after 6:00 p.m. will be charged at the rate of $5.00 for each additional 15 minutes. Portions of a 15-minute time block will be assessed at the full $5.00 rate. All students in Grades K-8 must be under supervision and will be required to be in extended care after 3:30 p.m. unless participating in a supervised, extra-curricular activity.
Lunches are available for purchase during the week for $4 per lunch. Typically, local food chains deliver packaged meals Monday – Friday. Students not purchasing a school lunch bring their own lunches.
Students leaving campus with an adult for lunch must return in time to resume classes, and must be checked out and checked
in at the office by that adult.

Parents order lunches online on RenWeb and are billed monthly for their student's lunches. All orders for a school week must be entered online by 8:45 Monday morning (or the first school day of the week).

The purpose of the Educational Enhancement (EE) Program at Grace Community Christian School is to provide Christ-centered academic support for students who have shown signs of learning difficulties.
The program also provides special enrichment for students identified as being a academically gifted.
The EE services are offered to students through a variety of programs, including the National Institute for Learning Disabilities (NILD), Search and Teach, traditional resource, classroom support, and speech-language therapy. EE services focus on helping students reach their academic potential in a regular educational setting. Services are designed for students with mild academic difficulties. The program is not intended to replace specialized assistance for students with more severe learning problems or other types of disabilities. GCCS students are referred to the program by parents or teachers, and are considered for entrance into the program after completion of our referral/assessment process.
Grace Community Christian School is dedicated to teaching and integrating God’s Word throughout the curriculum, with different studies and emphases at each grade level. All classes have devotions and prayer.
By the time a student graduates from Grace, he or she will have had an overview of the entire Bible from Genesis through Revelation. The student will have committed to memory a substantial amount of Scripture, along with the knowledge and understanding of the practical application of Scripture in a believer's daily life.
Grades K-8 have a weekly chapel service on Friday mornings. Grades 5-8 meet from 8:45-9:30 a.m., and Grades K-4 meet from 10:00-10:30 a.m. Chapels are led by teachers and students, and may involve guest speakers. Parents are encouraged to attend.
All students in Grades K-8 participate in physical education classes. Grades K-4 place special emphasis on muscular development and movement. Grades 5-8 begin to develop the skills necessary for various organized sports.
Students in K-8 will participate in P.E. in their normal school attire. Students in all grades must wear tennis shoes or soft-soled shoes during P.E.
Middle School students (grades 6-8) are eligible to participate in after-school competitive team sports. Grace Community Christian School is a member of the Valley Christian Schools League: a competitive league encompassing charter, private and non-parochial schools. Teams are arranged in a varsity, junior varsity format (when applicable). Placement on a sports team is decided upon by a tryout process. Sport seasons are approximately ten weeks in duration and consist of practices, home and away games, and tournaments. The arrangement of seasonal sports is as follows:

NOTE: With each sport or activity, there may be some added expense for equipment or outfits such as shoes, dresses, pants, cheerleading uniform, etc. For each Middle School sport there is a $45 fee for league related expenses. Also, parents and students sign an athletic contract for participation in each GCCS team sport.
All students in grades K-5 visit the library to check out books each week. Students in grades 6-8 can check out books during their free time. The library is available for research to all students in grades K-8.
Art is taught to all students in Grades K-5.
