Shirley Broek - Preschool Director

Shirley was raised in northwest Iowa where she attended Christian grade school, high school and college. She graduated from Northwestern College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, she and her husband Marlin moved to Phoenix where Shirley taught second grade at Phoenix Christian Grade School. She left that position to be a stay at home mom for her three children, Kelly, Krista and Michael (all 3 would later be graduates of Grace Community Christian School). Once her children were in school, Shirley went back to teaching (this time as a preschool teacher at Hope Christian School in Mesa). She has been involved in education for over 25 years, and has been the Preschool Director at Grace since 1997.

In her spare time, Shirley enjoys swimming, attending sporting events and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Shirley says that she has the best job in the world. She loves watching little ones discover the world around them with excitement and enthusiasm, receiving a daily dose of hugs, and seeing life through the eyes of the children. She considers it a joy and privilege to work alongside the GCCS preschool staff in sharing the love of Jesus with the children.
